Teleferico

One of the main tourist attractions in Quito is the Teleferico, a sort of ski lift that takes you up to 4100m altitude on a 12 minute ride (remember Quito is already at almost 3000m). We timed the ride because of a bet, I lost.

After living in Quito for almost 6 months I had never gone up the Teleferico, and the chance to do so arose when a friend from Honduras came to stay with Sandra and me for a few days. We went for a little hike at the top of the lift until we were engulfed in fog and it started to rain.

Anne is from Switzerland and is travelling through Latin America for another couple of months before starting her next degree back home. It was so great to see her again, reconnect and reminisce. We talked and talked and talked. And I realized that I miss having people around who I can talk about things with from before. Although we didn’t see Anne that much in Honduras because we lived in different places, we did have a connection from that time, we knew many of the same people and places and what the country is like.

All the best for your trip Anne, hope to see you again sometime!!!

Lots of love from Quito!

Chiara
