For Women

Pablo Picasso

Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, 1907

Dedicated to Mia.

The Signs of Life.

Dedicated to my special Women: My Mother, My partner, My daughter, and the International women’s day.

8th March 2010.

In a special moment of initial dating, there is always a point of uncertainty.

Will tonight be my night?

Will he be there? …….Mr right

Will I have a chance with him?

Will it happen tonight?

The only certainty is that the guy will not see the signs!

The cliché goes, Love is blind!

Well… yes and sometimes, Love can’t hear clear vocal messages too!

Take the following real life London situation.

A guy is discussing his latest conquest with his “female friend”

‘Hi sorry I’m a bit late it wasn’t too long was it?’- (yes already 20 mins)

Oh you’ve got a book with you… what are you reading? (Cursory glance over the front cover-nothing too deep)

.. Oh yes I forgot to tell you that recently I have hit a bit of a purple patch!, (he got lucky more than once!)

I came home from that party and got chatting with my flat mate and, well, she did think I was cute and we slept together! It was really crazy!

Now he is telling his female friend, these simple details in a way that she should really care? Right?

….well she doesn’t!

She smiles in a friendly way and ‘ha ha ha, oh wow, no really….I can’t believe it!’ –

kind of way, but what he has failed to see, right here in front of his eyes are ……The Signs of Life!

She arrived early

She prepared herself with some intelligent literature, while she waited.

Knowing he would be pathetically late.

She bought herself her own first drink.

She wore new perfume

She wore her hair differently.

She was forgiving in his lateness!

She wore hope and new love on her sleeve!

These were the first Signs…. She was interested in him for herself.

Now, clear for her and her friends who wished her ‘luck’ as she left earlier that evening, but not clear for him!

Now here is a situation. How does she make the Signs clearer?

Take control, he needs more boldness and creativity in this seduction.

Be assertive, smile and be direct, ask him clearly on a date, take him somewhere special, and show him how special you are. Ask him his opinion of the book, express directly your mission of finding someone and list out the criteria. Show him that you have eyes for him.

The message is that there is no subtlety in this situation, it need positive direct action.

Look at the flat mate- she had a plan and it worked!

Unfortunately for him, 2 days later she had another plan and it involved another guy and it went on later and louder- now he had to listen to the sounds and Signs of Life for himself!!

We really should follow the Signs and use this as a point of celebration of women,  as without temptation in life, where would we find challenge!

I wanted to share in this post the sentiment of awe and admiration.

The sentiment of our confirmed adoration.

The sentiment of our deep respect.

In this spirit, we should know how they are viewed by us ‘Tonalité d’un Homme’.

We often share among our peer’s stories of outstanding women, women who have knocked us ‘for six’, women who bring a tremble in our voice.

Maya Angelou describes these women perfectly.

They are Phenomenal! Phenomenal women.

I hope that you enjoy this and just to bring visual to the words, Picasso had a very good understanding of how to express, figuratively, the female form.

Phenomenal Woman.

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.

I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size

But when I start to tell them,

They think I’m telling lies.

I say,

It’s in the reach of my arms

The span of my hips,

The stride of my step,

The curl of my lips.

I’m a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.

I walk into a room

Just as cool as you please,

And to a man,

The fellows stand or

Fall down on their knees.

Then they swarm around me,

A hive of honey bees.

I say,

It’s the fire in my eyes,

And the flash of my teeth,

The swing in my waist,

And the joy in my feet.

I’m a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered

What they see in me.

They try so much

But they can’t touch

My inner mystery.

When I try to show them

They say they still can’t see.

I say,

It’s in the arch of my back,

The sun of my smile,

The ride of my breasts,

The grace of my style.

I’m a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.

Now you understand

Just why my head’s not bowed.

I don’t shout or jump about

Or have to talk real loud.

When you see me passing

It ought to make you proud.

I say,

It’s in the click of my heels,

The bend of my hair,

the palm of my hand,

The need of my care,

‘Cause I’m a woman

Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.
