Burlesque

Burlesque

Ali Rose (Aguilera) is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to Los Angeles. Determined to make the big time, she stumbles upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theatre that is home to an inspired musical revue and lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club’s proprietor and headliner. Burlesque’s outrageous costumes and bold choreography enrapture the young ingénue, who vows to perform there one day.

Faced with personal problems and financial troubles, Tess however struggles to keep the theatre alive. With the help of a sharp-witted stage manager, Sean, and a gender-bending doorman Alexis, Ali makes her way from the bar to the stage. But will Ali’s spectacular voice be able to restore the theatre to its former glory?

With subtle references to Bob Fosse’s classic Cabaret and featuring spectacular dance sequences, fabulous costumes and the first film appearance from Cher in 11 years, Burlesque will undoubtedly follow in the footsteps of 2002’s big hit screen musical, Chicago.
