  • Who is Vaya Herbelin?
  • Vaya Herbelin is a French painter who lives in Paris, at her workshop in the 10th district. Having always been passionate about art, and with a special interest in the post 19th century era, Vaya devoted herself to it after having managed the showroom at Pianos Pleyel. Her work is mainly focused on the relationship between music and painting. Sometimes she also ‘paints with noise-cancelling headphones on her ears to enter into a deeper silence and create music by using only colour.’
  • Why is she an inspiration?
  • Vaya’s personal and creative universe is rich and moving. Her portrait enchanted our jury during the ‘Illuminating a Woman from the Heart’ project. Getting to know her, you realise that transforming obstacles through strength has been an exercise this ‘woman of life’ has practised her whole life. Today her maturity is a source of inspiration for all of us.
  • Which subjects are you going to tackle?
  • We will share some of Vaya’s key life moments, her touching relationship with her deaf brother, her humanitarian mission to Nigeria, the accident that gave her a new perspective on life and finally her creativity in painting and her way of conveying it.
